The Florida Institute of Montessori Studies (otherwise known as FIMS) provides AMS certified Montessori Training. The primary goal of the organization is to increase the availability of Montessori training. It was founded by Cynthia Thomas as a group of working Montessori Professionals joined together to offer this educational opportunity. It is designed to provide more qualified Montessori teachers to the community and as an opportunity for individual professional growth and development.
Our courses are designed to enable you to complete an Associate Early Childhood or Early Childhood Credential or an Elementary I Credential within one calendar year. Requirements include completing a five or six-week summer session, a nine month internship, weekend seminars and a final evaluation. FIMS is MACTE accredited and an affiliate of the American Montessori Society.
Our facility is located on three acres in Brevard County, on the “Space Coast” of Florida, just two minutes from the Atlantic Ocean. Our 22,000 square foot modern educational facility accommodates twelve fully equipped/carpeted classrooms with private bathrooms, an administrative office equipped to support classroom material needs, a computer area for staff and students, and a state of the art gymnasium. Additionally there are three other AMS affiliated schools in the area which can be made available for observation and instruction.
